Mark Walsh is an American entrepreneur, venture investor, and political activist who was born in 1954. Walsh earned his bachelor's degree from Union College in 1976. Walsh began his career as a television newscaster for a CBS affiliate in West Virginia.

He stayed for two years before departing to obtain an MBA at Harvard Business School, which he earned in 1980. Walsh worked as a director of new business development at HBO for four years after graduating from Harvard. Walsh was named head of GEnie, the company's online service, in 1994. Walsh joined AOL as a senior vice president in 1995.
