Mark Bowles Biography

Mark Bowles is a serial entrepreneur, award-winning inventor (30+ patents), product designer (dozens of awards), marketer, and scientist (NSF grantee/principal investigator). He has over 25 years of experience in the semiconductor, wireless, healthcare, environmental, and consumer/retail industries, as well as the creation and launching of seven tech start-ups for which he has received approximately $250 million in venture capital. Mark established ecoATM and served as VP Marketing before co-founding Truvian Sciences and Salveo. In 2002, he co-founded Staccato as VP Marketing and Business Development. BOPS, Inc. was co-founded by Dev and he served as President/COO and director. He was previously involved in the formation and funding of Power Computing, Panorama Designs, and BlueSteel Networks. Bowles also worked for Motorola Semiconductor for six years, holding different distribution management, sales, and market development responsibilities until leaving as VP MSPI of PowerPC Market Development in 1996. In the fields of kiosk technology, wireless, and diagnostics, he has nine patents issued and more than 30 pending. He is also a primary investigator, grantee, and researcher for the National Science Foundation. He was an active member of IEEE 802.15.3a, 802.15.4a, and 802.11n standards committees; co-founded MBOA (marketing chair); WiMedia Alliance director (China Chapter); significant contributor to Certified Wireless USB; and Chair of the DRF regulatory committee. Bowles focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation as a speaker. He is a board member and Senior Fellow at Pepperdine University's Graziadio School of Business and the University of Southern California's Center for Peace and Commerce. Mark graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Industrial Distribution and Pepperdine University with an eMBA in Technology Management.
