Mark Bolas is a cognitive scientist who studies perception, agency, and intelligence. His work focuses on developing virtual worlds and transducers that fully engage the senses and produce a visceral recall of the encounter. He works at ICT as an associate director of mixed reality research and development.
He is also an associate professor of interactive media at the USC School of Cinematic Arts Interactive Media Division. Bolas is also the chairman of Fakespace Laboratories in Mountain View, California, which he co-founded to provide virtual reality equipment for research labs. He studied physical interfaces, augmented reality, and computational lighting as a professor at Stanford University and Keio University.
