Marjan Van Aubel Biography

Marjan van Aubel is an award-winning solar designer who uses her work to promote energy efficiency. Her cutting-edge work straddles the lines of sustainability, design, and technology. Swarovski and ECN.TNO, the Dutch Energy Centre, and others are among the scientists, engineers, and organizations with which she interacts. Van Aubel delivered a TED presentation titled The Beautiful Future of Solar Power in 2019. In 2017, Swarovski named her the Designer of the Future. She won the WIRED Innovation Award and the Wallpaper Design Award in 2016, and Neelie Kroes named her the Racicale Vernieuwer (Radical Pioneer) of the Netherlands. In 2015, she was awarded the Emerging Talent prize at the London Design Festival, and in 2012, she was awarded the First Prize Dutch Material Award. Caventou, an award-winning sustainable design group, was formed by her. She is a Rietveld Academy DesignLAB and Royal College of Art graduate.
