Marcus Bullock is an American entrepreneur, justice reform advocate, and TED speaker. At 15, he was sentenced to eight years in an adult maximum-security prison for a 1996 carjacking. His mother’s daily letters and photos inspired him to found Flikshop in 2012, a mobile app enabling families to send postcards to incarcerated individuals to reduce recidivism by maintaining connections.
In 2016, he launched the Flikshop School of Business, teaching entrepreneurship and coding to formerly incarcerated people. After his 2004 release, Bullock built a successful construction business hiring returning citizens. A 2020 Halcyon Incubator Fellow and one of The Root’s 100 Most Influential African Americans, he serves on the Justice Policy Institute board and advises Princeton and Georgetown universities.
