Barack Obama's oldest daughter, Malia Ann Obama, is a previous Illinois senator who became president on January 20, 2009. Malia Obama was born in 1998 to Barack and Michelle Obama, who had been married since 1992. Malia and her younger sister Sasha went to the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in Chicago, which is a private school.
Malia Obama finished fifth grade in 2008, and she and her sister started attending Sidwell Friends School in January 2009, after her family relocated to Washington, D.C. for her father's inauguration, and have been there ever since. Her father was re-elected president for a second four-year term in 2012.
