Maggie Kang is a pioneering Korean-Canadian animator, storyboard artist, and director at Sony Pictures Animation. At age five, she immigrated to Toronto, Canada, with her family due to her father’s job. Influenced by her film-buff father’s vast collection of classics from iconic Korean directors to Scorsese, Kang pursued animation at Sheridan College, graduating with a diploma in classical animation.
Recruited by DreamWorks in her third year, she became a story artist on blockbusters like “Puss in Boots” (2011), “Rise of the Guardians” (2012), “Kung Fu Panda 3” (2016), “Trolls” (2016), “The Croods: A New Age” (2020), and “Minions: The Rise of Gru” (2022).
