Lucie Silvas Biography

Her Scottish mother and Kiwi father reared her in New Zealand for part of her childhood... Lucie grew up listening to Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, James Taylor, and Roberta Flack, among other artists, who were favorites of her parents. She began playing the piano and composing songs at the age of ten, but she wasn't introduced to the music industry until she was seventeen, when she went on the road with British singer/songwriter Judie Tzuke as a backup vocalist. She launched her debut album Breathe a few years later and toured widely around Europe for the next several years with both her debut and second albums. She has collaborated with a number of musicians, including Jamie Cullum, Elton John, Lionel Richie, and Jay Kay, the frontman of Jamiroquai, who was recently responsible for the creation of her new songs. Lucie went to Nashville after finding success with both her own music and songs she had written for other singers. It was time to start again in the United States after selling over a million records in Europe alone. Lucie is now finishing up brand new tunes for her upcoming album in her new hometown of Tennessee, while also continuing to tour with various musicians in the US, most recently Kacey Musgraves. Lucie co-wrote and co-produced all of the tracks, and the title tune Roots was recently used in the US television show The Client List.
