Louis DeGennaro is executive vice president and chief mission officer of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). His responsibilities include oversight of all LLS mission functions including patient services public policy and research with the goal of effectively deploying resources in pursuit of the LLS mission. He has a successful record of bringing new drugs to the health-care arena and has developed a strategy at LLS to accelerate the pace of turning academic research into viable therapies to treat blood cancers. DeGennaro was appointed by Kathleen Sebelius U.S. secretary of health and human services to serve as a member of the newly created National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences Advisory Council and the Cures Acceleration Network Review Board at the National Institutes of Health.
