Jim is the head of asset management at Goldman Sachs (GSAM). He assists in directing all facets of GSAM's global operations in his capacity as chairman. Jim served as the Head of Global Economics, Commodities, and Strategy Research before accepting this position in September 2010. BRICs is an abbreviation that was created by Jim.
Together with his colleagues, he has written extensively about BRICs, a term that has come to represent the advent of Brazil, Russia, India, and China as the future's most promising growth markets. In 1978, Jim graduated from Sheffield University with a degree in economics, and in 1982, he received his Ph.D. from the University of Surrey.
