About Lindsey Hunter

Lindsey Hunter Biography

Lindsey Hunter is a former professional basketball player who was born on December 3, 1970. From 1993 until 2010, he was a point guard in the National Basketball Association (NBA), spending most of his time with the Detroit Pistons. He is presently the Phoenix Suns' temporary head coach. In the 1993 NBA Draft, the Detroit Pistons had two first-round choices. Hunter was picked with the 10th overall pick, and Tennessee guard Allan Houston was selected with the 11th overall pick. Hunter spent most of his professional career with the Detroit Pistons. From 1993 to 2000, he was a member of the Detroit Pistons until being dealt with the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Billy Owens. He spent one season with the Bucks before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Greg Foster. Hunter was a key member of the Lakers' championship-winning squad in 2001–02. Hunter was traded again after that season (on draught night 2002), this time to the Toronto Raptors in exchange for Tracy Murray and Kareem Rush, as well as the rights to Chris Jefferies. Hunter was re-acquired by the Pistons in August 2003, after Michael Curry was traded to the Raptors. To make the salary cap calculations work out for the transaction that brought Rasheed Wallace to the Pistons, he was moved to the Boston Celtics in February 2004 along with Chucky Atkins and Detroit's 2004 first-round lottery selection for Mike James. Hunter and the Pistons went on to win the NBA title in 2003–04. Hunter was banned for ten games on March 7, 2007, after testing positive for phentermine. He said he was using his wife's diet medications, which resulted in a positive drug test. On November 13, 2008, Hunter signed a one-year non-guaranteed contract with the Chicago Bulls. Hunter re-signed with the Bulls on July 13, 2009, for the veteran minimum of $1.3 million. Hunter was the oldest player in the NBA during the 2009–2010 season, at 39 years old, until he was dismissed by the Bulls on March 3, 2010. (to make room for Chris Richard). The Bulls recruited him as a player development assistant two days later.
