Adafruit Industries is an electronics hobbyist company owned by an American electrical engineer known as Limor Fried. In the open-source hardware community, she’s very influential and well known by her moniker ladyada, a homage to Lady Ada Lovelace for having participated in the first Open Source Hardware Summit and the drafting of the Open Source Hardware definition.
In 2003, Fried earned a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) from MIT where she studied and in 2005, she got a Master of Engineering in EECS. She created a project called Social Defense Mechanisms: Tools for Reclaiming Our Personal Space as part of her qualification.
