Chilcott founded Electric Kinney Films, a feature documentary production business, with filmmaker Davis Guggenheim after working as a producer on the Academy Award-winning An Inconvenient Truth. Chilcott started her career at MTV Networks, where she helped create the inaugural "MTV Movie Awards." Tenth Planet Productions, which she founded after leaving MTV, produces music specials and multi-camera productions.
Chilcott went on to work as an independent producer after Tenth Planet, making music videos and commercials. Chilcott has created It Might Get Loud, A Mother's Promise, the animated short It Was A Dark and Silly Night, and Waiting for Superman for the Democratic National Convention. She also co-founded Unscrew America, a non-profit dedicated to environmental and sustainability issues.
