Mallika Sarabhai is a communication and arts powerhouse in India. She has a business degree and currently runs the Darpana dance company, which specializes in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. She's also a writer, publisher, actress, producer, and anchorwoman, and all of her artistic endeavors are centered on a strong social conscience.
She spent five years in the mid-1980s touring the world as Draupadi, the principal role in Peter Brook's Mahabharata. She began a prolific phase of choreography and innovation when she returned to India, beginning with the dance Shakti: The Power of Women.
