Lawrence Kasdan got his start in the film industry when he sold his script for The Bodyguard to Warner Bros Pictures in the mid-1970s. George Lucas tasked Kasdan with finishing the script for The Empire Strikes Back in 1979.
After that, Lucas hired Kasdan to write the screenplays for Raiders of the Lost Ark and Return of the Jedi, the last installment of the original Star Wars trilogy.
