Laura Tuck Biography

Ms. Tuck held the position of Director for Strategy and Operations in ECA for six months prior to her current position, and the same position in the Middle East and North Africa Region from September 2011 to February 2012. From 2006 to 2011, Ms. Tuck was the Director for Sustainable Development in Latin America, where she was in charge of the environment and natural resources, agriculture and rural development, energy, transportation, water supply and sanitation, hazard risk management, urban development, and social development. Ms. Tuck served as ECA's Director for Sustainable Development from 2002 to 2006, after previously serving as Sector Manager for Agriculture and Rural Development and Lead Economist in the Region's Chief Economist's Office. Ms. Tuck began her career at the World Bank as a Young Professional in 1987 and worked as an economist in the Middle East and North Africa region before moving to ECA in 1994. Ms. Tuck worked over many consulting firms in the areas of agricultural policy, food policy, and food needs assessments prior to joining the World Bank. She also worked on the Princeton University faculty as part of a university research project. Between 1980 and 1987, Ms. Tuck worked and lived in Africa. Ms. Tuck holds an MPA in Economics and Public Policy from Princeton University and a BA in Economics from the University of California, Davis. She is a married woman with two grown children.
