Brigadier General Laura J. Richardson raised in Colorado and graduated from Metropolitan State College in Denver as a Second Lieutenant Aviation Officer. After flight school, Brigadier General Richardson's first assignment was with the 17th Aviation Brigade in Korea, where she served as a Platoon Leader, Company Comander, Company Executive Officer, and Brigade Staff Officer.
She then served on the III Corps Staff and as a Company Commander and Brigade Adjutant in the 6th Cavalry Brigade at Fort Hood, Texas. After leaving Texas, she was appointed to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where she worked as an Observer Trainer at the Battle Command Training Program before attending the U.S Army Command & General Staff College.
