Latoya London grew up in Oakland, California, where she had her first public musical appearance at the age of seven, singing at her mother's wedding. Her passion for singing began when she was four years old, and she began singing regularly while attending a Baptist church. From then, her skill blossomed.
From 1993 to 1996, she was a member of the Oakland Youth Chorus. She graduated from Skyline High School in 1997. (the same school where popular movie actor Tom Hanks and basketball player Gary Payton attended). She has also worked as a waitress and a bartender, as well as singing in a Christian rock band.
