Lance Allred is the first deaf player in NBA history and an authority on Leadership, Perseverance, and Grit, with his 5 Principles of Perseverance. Lance was born and reared in a polygamist commune in rural Montana until his family fled when he was 13 years old, legally deaf with an 80% hearing loss due to RH problems at birth.
Lance is more than a basketball player since he didn't start playing until he was in eighth grade as a method of adjusting to his new life outside of his childhood surroundings, despite being unable to play with his hearing aids and standing at 6'11".
