Samantha Chang was conceived in Appleton Wisconsin the girl of Chinese guardians who endure the World War II Japanese control of China and later moved to the United States. Chang has gotten partnerships from Stanford University (the Stegner Fellowship) and Princeton University. She filled in as the Briggs-Copeland Lecturer of Creative Writing at Harvard University. Chang got a M.F.A.
in Creative Writing from the University of Iowa a M.P.A. from Harvard University and a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Yale University. At Yale, she filled in as overseeing editorial manager of the Yale Daily News, and at Harvard, she got a partnership from the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study.
