He was influenced by the music she grew up with, including country artists such as Glen Campbell, Hank Williams, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. She always knew she wanted to move to Nashville and make music. Her childhood experiences with music and family continue to inspire her work. Wilson firmly believes in speaking one's truth and carefully choosing the words one speaks.

This message is evident in her current single, "Things A Man Oughta Know," which reflects the importance of having good character and treating others with respect. The song was recognized by NPR's Best Music of 2019 and has received 26 million streams.

Wilson has also received recognition for her work, including a debut at the Grand Ole Opry in 2020 and named MusicRow's Next Big Thing 2021 and one of Strings & Spurs' "Country Artists to Watch in 2021." Her music has been featured multiple times on the popular television show Yellowstone.

The song "Rolling Stone," with its striking and eerie tones, would perfectly fit into a western-style drama series due to its sweeping string elements and stunning vocals reminiscent of old Western music.

In the song, Wilson sings about the importance of not being tied down and warns, "You gotta know 'fore you fall for me, like a feather in the wind I could be gone, you don't give a rock to a rolling stone." Wilson shares that every time she plays the song, she feels like she's in a movie, adding that producer Jay Joyce worked his magic on it and made her feel like she's watching a movie from start to finish.

Wilson describes her style as "bell-bottom country," a blend of traditional country with a contemporary flair, fresh but familiar. Her songs showcase vivid country storytelling and strong female characters, as heard on the confessional title track "Sayin' What I'm Thinkin'." Her music is rooted in her life experiences and upbringing with strong family values.

She shares her father's strong work ethic as a farmer. She believes that artists should create something people can relate to or evoke an emotional response. If she can bring joy or hope to anyone, she feels it's her responsibility. Lainey Wilson promises to continue saying what she thinks through her music.
