Kyla Guru Biography

Kyla Guru is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bits N' Bytes Cybersecurity Education, a 501(c)(3) organization aimed at informing and empowering all vulnerable communities with the cybersecurity awareness and education required to face the future of innovative cyberthreats. For the previous 5 years, Guru has led her organization in supplying syllabus to five hundred plus schools as well as cultivating collaborations with school districts, corporate entities such as Facebook, IBM, Verizon Media, and academic institutions such as ISACA's One in Tech to spark global security dialogue. Guru has advocated for cybersecurity resilience on domestic and international stages such as NIST's NICE Conference, TEDxChicago, RSAC-USA, and RSAC Singapore. In addition, after having noticed the gender disparity in cybersecurity, she cofounded GirlCon Conference, Chicago's premier press event that brings together seven hundred plus industry students and professionals each year to debate on bridging the gender gap in technology. Guru has received the JFK Medal of Honor, Global Teen leader, ISACA International Leader, Crain Chicago's Top 50 in Tech, and Harvard Book Prize Award for her pioneering work in safety and new tech. Guru is also a freshman at Stanford University, studying Engineering in Computer science as well as International Security. When she isn't coding, she can be discovered golfing, reading poems and also slurping bubble tea.
