Dr. Kwane Stewart, known as "The Street Vet," is a veterinarian and Founder of Project Street Vet, a nonprofit that provides free veterinary care to pets of unhoused individuals. Born in New Mexico and raised in California, Stewart's passion for animals began in childhood, inspired by films like "The Black Stallion" and his pets. After graduating from Colorado State University's veterinary program in 1997, he worked in private practice in San Diego before joining a municipal shelter in California's Central Valley. 

In 2011, a transformative encounter outside a convenience store, where Stewart treated a homeless man's dog for fleas, sparked his mission.
