Kristin Kreuk is a Canadian actress who is best known for playing Lana Lang in the Superman-inspired television series Smallville and Laurel Yeung in the Canadian adolescent drama Edgemont. Snow White: The Prettiest of Them All, Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and Irvine Welsh's Ecstasy are among her other credits. Kreuk has been starring on The CW's Beauty & the Beast as Catherine Chandler since 2012. Kreuk earned a People's Choice Award for her performance in Beauty & the Beast in 2014. Kreuk competed at the national level in karate and gymnastics until high school, when he had to stop due to scoliosis. Kreuk had intended to pursue forensic science or psychology at Simon Fraser University, but she was caught aback when a casting director for the CBC television series Edgemont approached her at her high school. Kreuk got the lead part of Snow White in the TV movie Snow White: The Fairest of Them All after filming the first season of Edgemont (a teenage soap opera set at a Vancouver-area high school) and acquiring an agent. Miranda Richardson played Queen Elspeth, Snow White's nasty stepmother, in the film, which was shot in Vancouver. In 2004, Kreuk was cast as Tenar in the two-part Sci-Fi Channel miniseries Legend of Earthsea. Smallville's original cast included Kreuk. When Kreuk's character leaves Smallville in the first half of 2008, she quits the show. She returned as a guest star for five episodes in season eight of the program to wrap off her narrative. Kristin Kreuk joined Chuck in season three in 2009 for a multi-episode storyline.
