Kristen Anderson-Lopez Biography

Kristen Anderson-Lopez is a songwriter from the United States. Anderson-Lopez, her husband Robert Lopez, and Henry Jackman wrote and recorded music for the 2011 Disney film Winnie the Pooh, for which they received an Annie Award nomination for Best Music in a Feature Production. She also supplied Kanga's voice in the film. She also composed music for a Walt Disney World production of Finding Nemo – The Musical. She and her husband also co-wrote the songs for Disney's Frozen, which include "Let It Go," for which they received an Academy Award for Best Original Song at the 86th Academy Awards as well as two Grammy Awards at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Anderson-Lopez co-wrote the musical In Transit, which was developed at the O'Neill Musical Theatre Conference. From September 21, 2010 to October 30, 2010, the musical was performed Off-Broadway at the 59E59 Theatre. The show won the 2011 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble, as well as nominations for the 2011 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical (among others) and the 2011 Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical. Kathleen Marshall directed and choreographed the show, which premiered on Broadway in November 2016 at the Circle in the Square Theatre. With her husband and Alex Timbers, she co-wrote the romantic stage musical Up Here. Her work for young audiences includes a number of full-length and short musical adaptations for Theatreworks USA (Diary of a Worm, Fancy Nancy, Condensed Classics). She has authored several songs for television and was a staff writer for the award-winning Nick Jr. children's show Wonder Pets. Anderson-Lopez is currently collaborating with her husband on the Disney Theatrical Productions stage musical adaptation of Frozen,along with Jennifer Lee writing the book.
