The track landed him a deal with Jive Records, and he went on to record three successful late-'80s albums for the label, all of which included his masterful speed-rapping. For a while, Kool Moe Dee was the talk of the town because to a long-running dispute with LL Cool J, who he says copied his aggressive attitude and rapping style. Dee, who was born Mohandas Dewese in 1963, was an early smash at neighbourhood block parties, playing as Treacherous Three with high-school friends L.A. Sunshine and Special K, as well as DJ Easy Lee. Treacherous Three debuted on vinyl in 1980 with The New Rap Language, issued on Robinson's Enjoy Records, after being introduced by Spoonie Gee to veteran producer Bobby Robinson (Gladys Knight, the Orioles). Before Robinson sold the group's contract to Sugar Hill Records in 1980-1981, the group released Body Rock and Feel the Heartbeat. Treacherous Three released a few singles for Sugar Hill before disbanding in the mid-'80s.
