The track landed him a deal with Jive Records, and he went on to record three successful late-'80s albums for the label, all of which included his masterful speed-rapping. For a while, Kool Moe Dee was the talk of the town because to a long-running dispute with LL Cool J, who he says copied his aggressive attitude and rapping style.
Dee, who was born Mohandas Dewese in 1963, was an early smash at neighbourhood block parties, playing as Treacherous Three with high-school friends L.A. Sunshine and Special K, as well as DJ Easy Lee.
