Kevin Owen McCarthy, born on January 26, 1965, is a prominent American politician belonging to the Republican Party. He is the former 55th Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. McCarthy has represented California's 22nd congressional district from 2007 to 2013, the 23rd district from 2013 to 2023, and has been representing the 20th district since 2023.
He has held numerous leadership positions during his tenure in the House of Representatives, including serving as the House Minority Leader from 2019 to 2023 and as the House Majority Leader from 2014 to 2019, during the tenure of Speakers John Boehner and Paul Ryan.
