Professor Kevin Kendall FRS has spent the last 30 years studying hydrogen and fuel cells. Since March 2008, he has been in charge of the first hydrogen filling station in England, which has been used to fuel hydrogen cars on the Birmingham campus.
There are now four stations in the Midlands, with eight expected by 2012, and hundreds of hydrogen hybrid cars expected by 2015. Many firms and funding organizations, including Microcab, RDM, EPSRC, TSB, and AWM, helped make this feasible.
