About Kenton Duty
Kenton Duty Biography
Kenton Duty was born in Plano, Texas on May 12, 1995. He began his acting career at the age of nine, when his parents suggested he attend a summer musical theatre workshop to help with school presentations. Kenton Duty discovered his love for musical theatre at the Dallas Theater Center, where he also met the casting director who asked him to audition for his first play, "A Christmas Carol." Kenton auditioned for a role in the musical "Ragtime" the following summer. During this production, he realised that acting was his true calling. Kenton began studying acting at the Young Actors Studio in Dallas, Texas. He was discovered at a workshop not long after and asked if he wanted to pursue acting as a career. Kenton was able to begin auditioning for parts in Los Angeles as a result of this. Kenton began appearing in sketches on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" in 2006, and in 2007 he landed a lead role as Michael Marino in the made-for-TV movie "Christmas In Paradise." Kenton Duty's television success continued with guest appearances on the CBS hit "Cold Case" and the NBC series "CTRL" with Tony Hale. Kenton has also appeared in films such as "2:13," "Forget Me Not," "Crazy On The Outside," as well as "My Name Is Khan." Kenton rose to prominence as the pivotal role of young Jacob on the hit ABC TV show "LOST." No one, including Kenton, knew who his character was when he was cast in the show until nearly the final episode. He was simply billed as "Teenage Boy." Duty landed a starring role as the flamboyant dancer/fashion designer antagonist Gunther Hessenheffer on the Disney Channel original series "Shake It Up!" in 2010. Kenton Duty, who co-stars with Caroline Sunshine in "Shake It Up," plays one half of the glitzy Hessenheffer dance duo. Kenton Duty left his role as Gunther Hessenheffer on "Shake It Up" in 2012 to pursue film opportunities. Kenton's first film roles were in "Contest," "Silver Bells," and "Little Savages." Kenton is a talented musician in addition to his acting abilities. Kenton began his career as a guitarist in the band KGMC Gigmasters with "LOST" co-star Dylan Minnette. Kenton has recently appeared in collaborations with his "Shake It Up" co-stars on remakes of hits such as "Monster Mash" and "Roam." Kenton released the lyric video for his first single, "Teenage Summer Nights," in the summer of 2013, while also going on tour the United States.
