Kenneth A. Hersh is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, a non-partisan institution based in Dallas that houses the George W. Bush Library and Museum as well as the George W. Bush Institute. The mission of the Bush Center is to engage communities in the United States and around the world by developing leaders, advancing policy, and taking action to address today's most pressing issues. In addition, he is a Co-Founder and Advisory Partner of NGP Energy Capital Management. Since its inception in 1988, NGP has been a premier private equity investment franchise in the natural resources industry, managing over $20.0 billion in cumulative committed capital. Mr. Hersh served as NGP's Chief Executive Officer from 2005 to 2015. Under his leadership, NGP invested over $10 billion and achieved a 27-year gross IRR of 30% (net IRR of 19%), making it one of the industry's biggest investment firms during that time period. Mr. Hersh is presently a Senior Advisor to The Carlyle Group's natural resources division, as well as a member of the Texas Rangers Baseball Club and the Dallas Citizens Council. Mr. Hersh also serves on the Board of Supervisors of the Hoover Institution and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the American Enterprise Institute's National Council. . He also serves on the Harvard Kennedy School's Dean's Council. From 2009 to 2015, Mr. Hersh served on the Advisory Council of Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. Ernst & Young named him Master Entrepreneur of the Year for the Southwest Region during its Entrepreneur of the Year programme in 2014, and he received the Oil & Gas Council's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. Mr. Hersh has also been heavily involved in the nonprofit sector, both personally and through the efforts of The Hersh Foundation, his family's private foundation. He sits on the board of the Global War on Terror Memorial Foundation and the Global War on Terrorism Memorial Foundation. Communities Foundation of Texas, as well as the National Association of Urban Debate Leagues. Mr. Hersh served on the board of St. Mark's School of Texas from 1998 to 2015, holding various positions including President from 2010 to 2012. Mr. Hersh was honoured with the St. Mark's School of Texas Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2015. Mr. Hersh worked at Morgan Stanley & Company before co-founding NGP, where he was a member of the firm's energy group, specialising in oil and gas financing and merger & acquisition money transfers. Mr. Hersh was born in Dallas and raised there. After graduating from St. Mark's, he went on to Princeton University, where he earned a magna cum laude in Politics in 1985. Mr. Hersh received his M.B.A. from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business in 1989, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar. Mr. Hersh and Julie, his wife, live in Dallas, Texas.
