Ken Hurdle Biography

Ken is retired Chief Ombudsman for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation where he served for 12 years. He was responsible for providing consultation to top leadership on sensitive issues related to all departmental operations and for the supervision and training of facilitators for The California Public Safety Leadership and Ethics Program The Leadership Challenge® The Heart of Coaching and the Ethical Decision-Making Model. He was also directly involved in all of the Department’s leadership initiatives from entry through executive levels as a designer monitor facilitator and coach.
Prior to his career in corrections Ken was a senior consultant for the California State Senate for seven years specializing in adult and juvenile corrections disability issues and Native American affairs.
Ken's involvement in leadership development includes public and private workshop design presentation and coaching. He is a Leadership Challenge Certified Master and has been working with the LPI for five years. In addition he is faculty for the Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Development Program and a facilitator for the Phi Theta Kappa Leadership Honor Society California Public Safety Leadership and Ethics Program The Heart of Coaching and The Five Dysfunctions of a Team®.
