Kelly Hrudey retired from the NHL in July 1998 and traded in his skates for a mic, joining the cast of CBC's Hockey Night in Canada as a full-time consultant. After a 15 year career as a goalkeeper for the New York Islanders, LA Kings, and San Jose Sharks, Hrudey transitioned to broadcast television.
He had a 271-265-88 record with a 3.43 goals-against-average and 16 strikeouts. He was able to combine his knowledge and experience of the game of hockey with a career in front of the camera by presenting hockey fans with some of the most informative, well-researched, and precise commentary available.
