About Keith Morrison
Keith Morrison Biography
The longest-running primetime program in NBC history, Dateline NBC, has an award-winning correspondent named Keith Morrison. He began working for the news magazine in 1995 after a lengthy career in Canadian television and at NBC. Morrison has interviewed everyone from presidents and prime ministers to student protestors under fire in Tiananmen Square, criminals, professors, artists, actors, and authors for his reporting on events from across the world. Morrison has covered a broad range of topics since joining Dateline, including looking into the disappearance of two Idaho children, the "Dirty John" case, the Robert Durst trials, and a number of erroneous convictions. Morrison also took part in the 2019 Broadcasting & Cable Hall of Fame induction of the broadcast. Morrison recently developed genuine expertise in the mystery tales that Dateline NBC is most well-known for. Mommy Doomsday, the second true-crime podcast Morrison presented, peaked at number one on Apple's podcast charts. The Thing About Pam, the top-rated podcast Morrison broadcast in 2019, is being adapted into an NBC series starring Renée Zellweger. Before joining Canada's CTV Network in 1973, where he worked as a journalist, producer, and news anchor, Morrison began his career in the 1960s and worked for a number of radio and television stations in the country's western provinces. Morrison received honors for his reporting on national politics, a conflict in the Middle East, and the Boat People refugee narrative in the years following the Vietnam War when he was employed by CTV. Morrison served as a co-host and political reporter for The Journal, nightly news, and current affairs show on the CBC Network, in the early 1980s. He conducted important newsmaker interviews for The Journal there and provided films on Canadian politics. As co-anchor of the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. news on KNBC-TV in Los Angeles, Morrison joined NBC in January 1986. Two years later, he started working for NBC News as a West Coast reporter for shows including Today and NBC Nightly News, among others. Morrison had a significant role in NBC's 1989 coverage of the Tiananmen Square tragedy and the student uprising in Beijing. In the years that followed, he contributed to several stories on TODAY and Nightly News, as well as award-winning hour-long documentaries for NBC News. He came back to Canada in 1992 and started hosting Canada-AM on CTV. He also hosted the syndicated show Down the Road Again with Keith Morrison, moderated a number of panel discussion shows for specific PBS stations, and occasionally contributed to NBC News programs. In 1995, Morrison joined NBC once more. Among other honors, his work has won Edward R. Murrow, Christopher, Sigma Delta Chi, and Emmy prizes. He is wed to author and artist Suzanne Perry Morrison. They have six kids in all.
