In 1994, Senator Hutchison was elected to a full six-year term. She was elected to a second term in 2000, with more votes than any other statewide candidate in Texas history. She was re-elected by an overwhelming margin in 2006.
Senator Hutchison held positions in the Senate leadership, first as Vice-Chairman of the Republican Conference and later as Chairman of the Republican Policy Committee. Senator Hutchison most previously served as the Ranking Member of the Senate Review panel on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, as well as the Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Equality, as well as Science.
