Kaveh Safavi, M.D., J.D. Biography

Accenture's global health care business is managed by Kaveh Safavi, M.D., J.D. Dr. Safavi is in charge of developing and implementing a growth strategy that distinguishes Accenture's offerings for providers, health insurers, and public and private health systems worldwide. Dr. Safavi joined Accenture in 2011 after leading Cisco's global health care practise. He previously served as Thompson Reuter's chief medical officer of Health Businesses and as United Healthcare's vice president of medical affairs. He has also held positions of leadership at Solucient, Humana, HealthSpring, and Alexian Hospital Network. Dr. Safavi brings more than two decades of leadership experience to Accenture Health as a seasoned executive. He was instrumental in the establishment of the Center for Healthcare Improvement at Thompson Reuters Health Businesses, and while at HealthSpring, he established one of the Midwest's first electronic medical record systems. He has authored numerous papers and has been quoted on health-care issues in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Harvard Business Review, and the Economist. Dr. Safavi holds both a medical and a law degree, with an M.D. from Loyola University School of Medicine and a J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center and is board-certified in internal medicine and paediatrics. Dr. Safavi and his two daughters live in the Chicago area.
