Katy Hutchison is a best-selling author, professional public speaker, and proponent of restorative justice. Her "accidental career," which has taken her all over the world and touched the lives of thousands, began in 1998, following the murder of her husband, Bob McIntosh. Hutchison, a passionate advocate for victim and offender issues, also works with youth to help them understand social responsibility and develop their emotional literacy. Her book, Walking After Midnight: One Woman's Journey Through Murder, Justice, and Forgiveness, is available in Canada and the United States, with Reader's Digest publishing condensed versions around the world. Hutchison's moving storey inspired the Lifetime Network film Bond of Silence, which premiered in 2010. Her TEDx talk from 2013 has been viewed over 100,000 times, and she was honoured in 2015 to be included in the Simon Fraser University Alumni Appreciation Project. She lives in Victoria, British Columbia, with her husband, Michael Hutchison. She is an in-school mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters and has previously served on the boards of Glenlyon Norfolk School, The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Children's International Summer Villages, and Restorative Practices International.
