Katie Meyler Biography

Katie Lee is a television food critic and chef who was born on September 14, 1981. Lee has worked as a TV restaurant critic for George Hirsch: Living It UP!, a PBS program on healthy living and cookery. Lee has experience working in a variety of restaurants as well as a luxury food and wine stores. She assisted in the opening of Jeff and Eddy's Restaurant in 2003, where she worked as the house fishmonger. Lee and his partner Aleishall Girard founded the gourmet website OliveAndPeach.com in July 2005. In September 2006, the website was no longer updated. She was the inaugural host of Bravo's Top Chef in 2006. However, fans were less than pleased with Lee's presenting approach, with many noting her lack of culinary credibility and monotonous delivery as detracting from the show's enjoyment ability. As a result, Bravo executives opted to replace her with a more animated Padma Lakshmi in order to increase ratings and viewership. Simon & Schuster released Lee's debut cookbook, The Comfort Table. Lee appears on Extra as a special correspondent on occasion. Katie's Kitchen, her culinary and lifestyle column, is published weekly in Hamptons magazine, and she is a contributing editor to Gotham magazine. Lee has also been on Paula's Party, Martha Stewart, Today, The Early Show, and Fox News, among other shows. She was a judge on Iron Chef America in 2007. Lee has been featured in People, In Style, Life and Style, Celebrity Living, and The New York Dog Magazine, among other magazines. Lee is a member of Chefs for Humanity's council, which offers humanitarian help across the world, as well as Les Dames d'Escoffier, which trains and develops women in the culinary business.
