Katie McGrath Biography

Katie McGrath was born in Ashford, County Wicklow, Ireland, and attended St. Andrews College before having graduated from Trinity College, Dublin, with a history degree. She loved working in fashion journalism and began her career as a wardrobe associate on the set of The Tudors.In 2007, McGrath was cast in Damage, an Irish TV film. She also appeared in Bedrock Productions' La Marea at the 2007 Dublin Theatre Festival. Until being cast in Merlin, she appeared in the feature films Eden and Freakdog. McGrath also appeared in a five-part Channel 4 docudrama about Queen Elizabeth II's life, in which she performed as a young Princess Margaret. McGrath was cast in Madonna's directorial debut, W.E., a biopic of King Edward VIII, in 2010. McGrath will play Lady Furness, the king's former mistress who exposes him to Wallis Simpson, it was eventually discovered. McGrath began filming the movie A Princess for Christmas in Romania in February 2011. McGrath began voice recording for a character in the upcoming animated short movie Trd a Storm in September 2011. The following month, McGrath was cast in Labyrinth as Oriane Congost. Katie will reconnect with her The Tudors co-star and good friend Jonathan Rhys Meyers in the horror drama TV series Dracula, which will air on NBC and Sky Living in 2013. Katie will take on the role of Lucy Westenra.
