Kate Stone, the child of a continent-hopping engineer and born in Cheshire, England, was frequently left to her gadgets among the world's most differing cultures. Kate learned quickly that non - traditional problem-solving was very much the best kind, whether she was learning to cook rice from Gurkhas or working alongside a garage full of car repairmen in Borneo. She decided to move to Australia at the age of 20 and eventually to the outback, where she soon found herself herding 22,000 lambs on a 120,000-acre farm. Kate then returned to England and started her studies in electronics at Salford University prior to getting recruited to do her PhD work in physics at Cambridge's renowned Cavendish Laboratory, where her focus on moving electrons eventually led to the formation of her ground-breaking company, Novalia. Stone says of his work at Novalia, "The work of my team and myself is the sudden realisation of my childhood fantasies." We put electronics into paper, and paper is everywhere. She considers herself a creative scientist, fusing art and science to produce startling fusions of old and new technology.
