Kandi Burruss Biography

Kandi Burruss is a singer songwriter producer and star of the popular Bravo reality show The Real Housewives of Atlanta. Burruss started out in the music industry as a member of the '90s super group Xscape before launching into songwriting. Her song No Scrubs became one of TLC's biggest hits and earned a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance for a Duo or Group with Vocals and a nomination for Record of the Year. She went on to write the #1 hits Bills Bills Bills and Bug a Boo for Destiny's Child and several other hits for Pink *NSYNC Usher Boyz II Men Fantasia and Whitney Houston. Riding the success of her songwriting career she released her debut album Hey Kandi in 2001 yielding the Billboard Top 25 pop hit Don't Think I'm Not. She was the first African American woman to win the prestigious ASCAP Songwriter of the Year Award in 2000 and the first woman ever to win ASCAP's Rhythm & Soul Music Award. Burruss starred in multiple Housewives spin-offs including The Kandi Factory Kandi's Wedding and Kandi's Ski Trip. She also hosts the weekly Internet talk show Kandi Koated Nights and writes a blog called Kandi Presents: The Bitter and the Sweet for lifestyle website Hellobeautiful.com.
