She utilized her many professional skills and her passion for history to develop, find, and construct The HistoryMakers. She has a wide background in theatre, television production, and cable television.
The HistoryMakers is a Chicago-based national 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization dedicated to maintaining, developing, and making accessible a globally acclaimed archive collection of thousands of African American video oral histories. Richardson is the Founder and Executive Director of The HistoryMakers, as well as a member of the National Board of Directors of The HistoryMakers.
