Judy Rankin was a golf prodigy who went on to become one of the most popular players on the LPGA Tour, but her career was cut short - and her effectiveness even in her prime years - due to serious back problems. Rankin began golfing at the age of six.
By 1960, she'd already won the Missouri Amateur and placed second in the U.S. Women's Open as a low amateur. Then she was on the verge of abandoning the game.
