Maran was born in the California town of Menlo Park to a Russian and Polish father and a Dutch, French, and German mother. At the age of 12, she began modeling part-time when an agency saw her at a neighborhood BBQ restaurant. After graduating from high school, Maran pursued a more focused profession.
