Joseph Hachem is a professional poker player who is most known for winning the main event of the 2005 World Series of Poker. This was seen as a significant achievement not just because winning an event like the World Series of Poker is tough, but also because this tournament had the biggest field in history, with over 5,000 participants.
Hachem started playing poker in 2002 after quitting his job as a chiropractor owing to a severe blood disease. He went on to finish second in the $2,500 short-handed no limit hold'em tournament at the 2006 World Series of Poker. His cumulative live tournament winnings as of 2006 were close to $8 million.
