Jose Bowen has performed globally alongside musicians such as Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, and Bobby McFerrin authored over one hundred scholarly articles, and created a Pulitzer Prize-nominated symphony over his thirty-year career in music.
In 1982, he began teaching at Stanford University, then moved on to the University of Southampton, Georgetown University, Miami University, and Southern Methodist University, where he is presently Dean of the Meadows School of the Arts and Algur H. Meadows Chair and Professor of Music.
