Dr. Jonathan Woetzel has been based in China since 1985 and has played a key role in the development of McKinsey & Company's China office. Jonathan is a director of the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey's business and economics research arm, in addition to his work assisting Chinese and other Asian firms prepare for global development.
He also oversees McKinsey's Cities Special Initiative, which brings together McKinsey's engagement with local, regional, and national governments in more than 40 countries. He is a co-chair of the Urban China Initiative, a non-profit think tank founded by Columbia University, Tsinghua University, and McKinsey with the goal of developing and implementing solutions to China's urbanization issues.
