Jonathan Nelson is CEO and founder of Providence Equity Partners LLC a private equity firm that manages $45 billion of committed capital and specializes in equity investments in media communications and information companies globally. Nelson has been investing in private equity transactions for over 30 years focusing on media telecom and entertainment. Previously he was a managing director of Narragansett Capital Inc. He serves on the boards of the Chernin Group MLS Media Television Broadcasts Ltd. and Univision Communications. Nelson has also served as a director of AT&T Canada Hulu Eircom Plc Voicestream Wireless (now Deutsche Telecom) Warner Music Group Western Wireless Corp. (now Alltel Corp.) and Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network. He is a trustee of Brown University the Rockefeller University and the Institute for Advanced Study and also serves on the board of Newport Festivals Foundation. Nelson received a B.A. from Brown University and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
