Jon CarmichaelSpeaker and Booking Agent Information

Jon Carmichael is an esteemed astrophotographer, sport pilot, and keynote speaker whose story is as inspiring as his images. He gained worldwide recognition for his 2017 photograph “108” of the Great American Eclipse, captured from a Southwest Airlines flight at 39,000 feet after years of meticulous planning and with the crew adjusting the flight path specifically for him. Entirely self-taught, Carmichael began photography at age 20 and quickly turned his passion into a career, eventually becoming Twitter's youngest-ever lead photographer and working with major brands like Dell, Microsoft, and ESPN. He has photographed important figures such as President Obama, the Dalai Lama, Lady Gaga, and Sir Elton John, who became the first collector of Carmichael’s fine-art astrophotography in 2015. Jon is also a licensed sport pilot and often flies himself to remote locations to create his images. As a speaker for TEDx and NASA, he shares his philosophy of curiosity, perseverance, and his signature “Eclipse Mindset,” which turns limits into breakthroughs. Carmichael’s work has been showcased in Times Square, featured on Good Morning America, and published in the Wall Street Journal.
