John Witherspoon is an actor and comedian from the United States who has been in a number of films and television series. Witherspoon is most known for playing Willie Jones in the Friday series, but he has also appeared in films including Hollywood Shuffle (1987) and Boomerang (1992).
He's also appeared on programs including The Wayans Brothers (1995–99), The Tracy Morgan Show (2003), Barnaby Jones (1973), The Boondocks (2005), and Black Jesus (2014). He also wrote the film From the Old School, in which he plays an aging working guy who seeks to stop a neighborhood convenience store from becoming a strip club.
