John Williams is a pianist, conductor, and composer from the United States. In a career spanning over six decades, he is widely considered as the greatest film composer of all time, having created some of the most famous, identifiable, and highly acclaimed film soundtracks in cinematic history.
Williams has received 24 Grammy Awards, seven BAFTAs, five Academy Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. He is the second most nominated person for an Academy Award, after Walt Disney, with 52 nominations. Williams' soundtrack for 1977's Star Wars was named the best American cinema score of all time by the American Film Institute in 2005.
